FAQ
1. Should I get an all-inclusive resort deal?
An all-inclusive resort deal will appeal to those who would probably spend a lot of time inside the resort and will probably eat and drink a lot. However, don’t take this if you plan to explore the nearby towns and tourist attractions for most of the day—you won’t actually be able to use all the extra features that you’re paying for.
2. How can I get discounts on plane tickets?
The cost of the plane ticket can eat up a large chunk of your travel budget. Watch the air fare wars, as companies try to offer discounts and promos to attract customers in the midst of fierce competition. Booking your flight from Tue to Thursday, rather than the “peak” weekend days, can also save you a lot of money.
3. What are the benefits of a cruise versus a resort vacation?
Going on a cruise lets you visit several places during a single trip. The prices typically include accommodation, entertainment, meals, and the transportation between destinations.
4. Should I go to the beach or the mountains?
It’s really a matter of personal preference, health (the warm weather in beaches may be gentler on those who are older or suffering from health problems), and the kind of vacation that you would like to have (you’ll do more “active” sports in mountain resorts, while beaches let you lounge).
5. What kind of clothes should I bring?
For beach wear, get something light. Bring rubber beach slippers and water-proof bag as well. For hitting the slopes it’s better to dress in three layers and a jacket (rather than one bulky item). You should get polypropylene underwear; others like long johns that also protect the back and absorb the sweat. Wool sweaters and turtle necks are also good choices.
